Abigail Freeman's opinions about popular issues in the United States.
Abortion:
- 100% woman’s choice
- government plays no role whatsoever
- potential for life starts at conception, but a fertilized embryo should not be used interchangeably with “baby” or “living human”
- supports adoption centers and advocates for Plan B one step
- no age limit on abortions, no matter the age, it is only the choice of the carrier of the baby
- late term abortions only acceptable if the fetus or mother is at serious health risk
- abortion is NOT birth control, it is a sad thing for many women and cannot be used loosely and irresponsibly.
Budget and Economy
-
Government action should strive to solve problems with recession, not necessarily meaning tax-cuts
-
Promote small businesses and job opportunities
-
minimum wage increase happens before Congressional salary increase
-
Strongly believe in paying off national debts to protect next generations
-
short term economy fixes are helpful but not enough, government action should focus more on long term solutions
-
economy is not working for middle and lower class families, we need to take a different route.
-
Workers compensation is important
Civil Rights
-
we have come a long way on race and minorities, but we are not yet we need to be
-
human rights are women rights and women rights are human rights.
-
apologize for the past, but crack down on civil rights now.
-
We will never go back to the past, but we will always be moving towards the future.
-Gay rights
-
Whether parents choose to discuss gay rights and the civility of being gay is entirely in their control
-
government should not play a part in how parents raise their children and nurture their children’s beliefs, except for laws that keep children safe in their homes
-

voted NO on constitutional ban on same sex marriage and gay individuals holding federal offices

“ If we engage in ground war in Iraq and Syria, we are handing ISIS everything they want on a silver platter. All of a sudden we will have thousands of Muslims being tortured by ISIS, but who will fight with them because they hate Americans more. “
-
Voted NO on air strikes.
-
“ISIS is playing smart. If we join Britain and send in more airstrikes, we might get one muslim and kill four school students at the same time.”
-
greatest concern (for the US) in the Middle East is oil
-
with ISIS, we are in one of the the most complicated positions we have ever been put in
-
China
-
working towards transferring all of our jobs into the United States to create more job opportunities in our own country
-
We owe China a lot of money and they are not people we want to be in an argument with. Navigate carefully
-
Not to say that we can’t call them out on things they are doing wrong. In fact they will most likely respect they.
-
for example they criticize authoritarianism with woman and children
Education
-
number one issue within public schools is not curriculum or negligence within staff (though there certainly is), it is poverty within the families attending
-
government support to public education is vital and should never stop
-
if anything funding should increase
-
arts and after school programs should be stressed in all schools
Environment
-

-
more recycling plants and recycle pick up companies
